Volunteering at the MDABC

 

Volunteers are an essential part of the MDABC and they contribute in a variety of ways. We continue to strive to offer meaningful and productive opportunities to our volunteers. We will provide training and support to get you started, and once as we get to know you we will provide written and verbal references to future employers. When you are ready to apply please complete the volunteer application form (found on this page) indicating which volunteer position you are interested in. Current Volunteer Opportunities:

 

Volunteer Patient Greeters Needed

The MDABC is looking for volunteers to work in our busy psychiatric clinic greeting and checking in patients. This position is primarily a customer service role so a desire to work with the public is essential. Volunteers will also be working closely with our Medical staff to ensure smooth operations of the clinic.

The right person for this role will have strong computer, time management, and communication skills.

What the MDABC offers all volunteers are meaningful ways to contribute in an organization that truly makes the needs of people with mood disorders forefront in all its activities. Training and support will be provided to successful candidates for this dynamic volunteer opportunity. 

Shifts are currently available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please fill in the on-line volunteer application form and we will get in touch with you. 

 

Peer Support Group Facilitators and Co-facilitators

The Mood Disorders Association of BC is looking for facilitators and co-facilitators for MDABC support groups. You will need to be an excellent listener and able to support people wherever they are in their recovery. Facilitator training will be provided either in the MDABC office or via Skype and you will receive a manual as well as good support in your role. If you are interested, have experienced a mental illness, have solid recovery under your belt and are able to commit to at least one year then please contact Caer Weber at reneeweb@telus.net. Please note that you must be cleared to work with children and vulnerable adults. A criminal record check will also be done at MDABC’s expense.  

MDABC is currently looking for leaders and co-leaders for the following groups:

  • Leader for the Newton Adult Support Group - 2nd Monday of the month from 7 - 9pm ar rge "Roost" Clubhouse, 13582 68 Ave, Surrey
