Online Australian Study to Develop Guidelines for Carers
Online Australian study to develop guidelines to assist carers
The aim of this study is to develop well researched guidelines, to provide family members, partners and close friends with information on bipolar disorder, suggestions about how they can help, and ways to cope with the illness. Once complete, these guidelines will be made publically available as a resource for carers and families affected by bipolar disorder. They could also be used in pamphlets and programs that assist people to deal with the illness.
Consumers, carers and clinicians with experience and expertise in dealing with bipolar disorder, are invited to share what they have learnt and be expert panel members on the project. Consumers and carers need to be 18 years and over, and to have either:
a. Supported others in similar situations.
OR
b. Contributed in some way to our knowledge in the area (e.g. through the literature).
Panel members will be asked to rate survey statements about what to include in the guidelines, and to add their own comments and suggestions. They will not be required to attend any meetings as all contact will be via the Internet.Copies of the guidelines and related published articles will be sent to panel members that assist with the project.
