Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Group
This group is exclusively for people who have been diagnosed with, and have had professional therapy for PTSD. It is important to have a diagnosis and have received professional therapy so that when triggers arise you will have the necessary coping strategies in place to help yourself when deeply rooted emotions are potentially released. At the PTSD Peer Support Group you will find a safe place where:
- Confidentiality, trust and respectfulness are of primary importance.
- You are part of a peer group.
- You can talk freely about your feelings, experiences and symptoms.
- You can discuss with others, ways of coping with particular symptoms.
- You can support others by giving positive feedback, just by listening or just by being kind.
Group participation is encouraged but not necessary as we routinely read and discuss chapters from "The PTSD Workbook" by Mary Beth Williams, Ph.D., LCSW, CTS, and Soili Poijula, Ph.D. If you are interested in attending this group or you want further information, please call the MDABC office at 604.873.0103 to pre-register. If you do not meet the above criteria to be a member of this group but still want guidance towards professional therapy and/or support, please contact our office. This group runs on Tuesdays, 10am - Noon at the MDABC office at 200 - 460 Nanaimo Street, Vancouver.
